World Book Day – Thursday 4th March

This week we will be joining in with the World Book Day celebrations on Thursday.  There are a few activities going on throughout this week that you may want to access and join in with from home.

Our first is our Virtual Book Fair that we launched last week.  You can find a range of titles for each year group and you are also able to email Louise to request any particular books that are not listed as she may be able to supply them too.  Each sale will help to provide free books to school and also helps to support local independent bookshops.  There is also a section called ‘Donate a book to school’ where each class teacher has put together a wishlist for their classroom should anyone wish to donate a book.

The second thing we would like to challenge everyone to take part in is a book hunt.  Throughout this week we would like you to choose one of your favourite books and make some sort of picture or model to represent that book.  It could be a picture of something from the book, a model you have made from Lego or recycled materials, one of your teddies dressed at a character, however creative you’d like to be.  When you have made your picture or model we would like you to display them in your window on Thursday so if any children from our school community are out for a walk they can look out for and spot as many book pictures as they can.  (If you struggle to make something you could just put your favourite book in your window for others to spot.)  We’d love to see a photo of whatever you create and do let us know how many book windows you spot!

Bournville BookFest for Schools has some wonderful activities taking place all week.  Here’s author and illustrator Nick Sharrat to explain more.
