Wednesday morning 1st April

Happy April everyone! Let’s hope nobody is mischievous and pulls any pranks this morning!!

8.45 – 9.00: Spellings

9.00 – 9.05: Wake Up Shake Up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNoCCPidpVg

9.05 – 10.00 Maths

Cut out the balloon cards and sort them into sets so that all the striped ones are together, plain are together, stars together etc. Look at the numbers on each of the balloons in the set, say the number and order them from smallest to largest. Can you tell a grown up how many tens and how many ones there are in each of the numbers? BusyAnt_y1_u8_w1_HG_3

I am also attaching multiples of 2, 5 and 10 cards. Cut them out and then order them. Maybe you could ‘hide’ some of the cards to make it harder to order them, and you could also try going backwards in 2s, 5s or 10s too. BusyAnt_rs_42 BusyAnt_rs_43 BusyAnt_rs_44

10.00 – 10.15: Break

10.15 – 11.00 English

Use this website https://www.j2e.com/jit5#mix and choose one of the templates where you can ‘write about your work’. Choose ‘minibeasts’ by clicking on the actual word ‘animals’. You will see a menu comes up and that ‘minibeasts’ is a choice. Select ‘minibeasts’ and you should be able to use the arrows to get different types! Click on one and put it into your work. Then use the computer keyboard to type information sentences about the minibeast you choose each time. Try to include some brilliant facts in your sentences and remember to use capital letters and fulls stops! Even better if you can get the word ‘and’ in the sentences.

11.00 – 11.15: Phonics

Go onto Phonics Play Phase 5c and select ‘investigating alternative spellings -ear’. Look for words with an ‘ear’ sound in the phoneme spotter story and then sort the words. Children may find this quite hard as some of these are graphemes that we haven’t looked too closely at yet. For those of you struggling to get onto Phonics Play, here is a paper-based activity instead: T-L-5459-Phase-5-ear-Graphemes-Word-Sort

11.15 – 11.30: Break

11.30 – 11.40: Peace Out https://www.cosmickids.com/category/watch/?video_category=mindfulness&changed=video_category

11.40 – 12.25: Art & Design

Get creative with paints and make some hand print or finger print animal pictures! If you don’t have any paints, don’t worry. Maybe you could use mud (if that’s okay with adults!) or collage materials. You could use some materials from your recycle box, like egg cartons or yogurt pots to make a model of a creature, or do some pebble painting!

Happy crafting, everyone!
