Wednesday 6th May

Hello everyone,

Here’s what we will be up to today… Literacy, Maths, Letters and Sounds and Yoga.

Literacy:

Please write the next part of your Jack and the Beanstalk story. The writing that I have seen so far has been brilliant, and again I’ve had a good mix of children doing all the writing, or taking it in turns to write sentences with their grown up, or just writing certain words – continue to do what is working best for you and your household!

Maths:

So, today we are going to do a little bit of counting in 2s. Can you find something around your house that always comes in pairs (shoes, socks, gloves etc.) I’d like you to use these to make the following numbers:

8, 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 12, 4, 20

When you count your objects to check them, make sure that you have a go at counting each pair as two, rather than counting in ones (2, 4, 6, 8, rather than 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). Have a look at how many pairs make up each number, e.g. 3 pairs make 6.

Can you find anything else around your house that always comes as a pair?

Letters and Sounds:

Today we are learning our very last tricky word!!! Hooray – we’ve made it to the end of Phase 3, you clever lot!

The tricky word I would like you to learn today is ‘are’, remember all the ways that we usually learn a tricky word and have a go at home. Then, can you think of any sentences with ‘are’ in it? Write these down if you like, or just say them out loud. Don’t let this one trick you, as it can sound like ‘our’ in our Shropshire accents!

Yoga:

Choose your favourite video from Cosmic Kids to have a go at. If you fancy trying something a little bit different today, why not have a go at the relaxation video below.

I hope you all have another lovely day today.
