Tuesday morning 19.5.20

Hi everyone. Here’s the plan for Tuesday morning:

8.45 – 9.00: Practise spellings

9.00 – 9.05: Wake Up Shake Up What’s That Sound?

9.05 – 10.00: Maths

Start today by recapping ‘left’ and ‘right’, and ‘forwards’ and ‘backwards’. Playing a few rounds of ‘Simon Says’ would be a great way to have fun whilst re-familiarising yourself with what these words mean. Then have a go at the questions on the sheet. There are helpful question prompts for adults down the side of the sheet to help. Activity Cards – Describe Position (1)

10.00 – 10.15: Break

10.15 – 11.00: English

Yesterday, you came up with your own character for a brand new fairy tale and described where the character lived and with whom. In our stories, the main character is going to go for a walk to visit a friend or a family member. First, decide who they will visit. Then, think of an idea for a magic item that they will be given by someone they pass on their walk. Decide what the magic item is, draw it and describe it. Why is this item magical? What does it do? Remember other magical items in fairy tales tend to make good things happen, like Jack’s beans, Aladdin’s lamp and the pumpkin in Cinderella’s garden. All of these magical things helped the main character to have a better life in some way. Try to go with this kind of idea! Let’s now pretend that there is a baddy in your story who also wants to get their hands on the magic item. Draw and describe your baddy, and think about why they want this magic item. Is it so they can get rich instead of your good character? Where does your baddy live?

Don’t worry about writing up any of your story yet! We’re just getting our ideas planned at this stage.

11.00 – 11.15: Phonics

Recap ‘ue’ and ‘oe’ using the sheets. Trace over the graphemes carefully and then complete the words. oe Spelling Activity ue Spelling Activity

You may also want to have a go at a different mosaic from the file attached yesterday.

11.15 – 11.30: Break

11.30 – 12.25: Music

Today we are going to revisit pulse or beat and also learn about ‘rests’ in music. Have fun learning ‘Wolfie Blues’ in the second part of the Little Red Riding Hood musical series on BBC Teach. When the video mentions singing in two parts, choose to either sing in group A or group B. If you have a family member that wants to join in, maybe they could sing the other part! Don’t forget to do the actions as you sing. Little Red Riding Hood song 2

You will see that if you scroll down on the page there are two activities: ‘music activity’ and ‘listening music’. Have a go at both of these. You may also want to watch the story. If you do, start at part 1!

Have a fun morning. x
