Tuesday afternoon 19.5.20

Tuesday afternoons involve reading skills, science, story time and the daily mile.

1.30 – 1.50pm: Reading skills

Listen to the story of ‘The Magic Paintbrush’. The Magic Paintbrush British Council

Think about these questions:

Is Rose rich or poor at the beginning of the story?

What magical item is she given?

How does this magical item help people?

Who is the baddy in this story?

There is a worksheet for this story if you want to have a go at it: short-stories-story-time-the-magic-paintbrush-worksheet

1.50 – 2.30pm: Science

Some of you may have taken photos of trees a couple of weeks back. If you did, take a look at these photos now. Can you find out the names of the trees in your picture? This tree identification sheet may help: leaf-id-sheet

If you weren’t able to get any photos, then look for some of these trees in your garden or when you are next on a walk. You may find other types of trees that are not on the sheet. Can you find out their names?

2.30 – 2.45pm: Story time

Can you find a fairy tale to read that you don’t know that well? Find a cosy, comfortable spot and enjoy!

2.45pm onward: Daily Mile/go for a walk or have fun outside being active. Don’t forget to take your tree ID sheet out with you if you are going tree-spotting!

I hope you all have a lovely afternoon. x
