Royal Mail have got a fantastic national competition for children aged 4-11 and 12-14 to design a heroes stamp.
Royal Mail are asking young designers to think about who their hero or heroes are, and to then design a stamp in their honour. A special panel of judges will pick the winning designs. Eight pupils from primary and secondary schools across the UK will become the designers of this stamp set and one of those winners could be you!
Millions of key workers have kept the country going when most of us were told to stay home for our own safety. There have also been many people who volunteered to help people in their communities who needed help or support. Royal Mail think that what these people have done makes them heroes, so Royal Mail wants to honour them by producing a set of eight stamps.
Your child’s design could be of NHS frontline workers, school teachers/support staff, supermarket workers, delivery drivers – or perhaps if could be of public transport workers, vaccine scientists, military personnel, emergency services, food bank volunteers or cleaners and the list goes on of all those how have continued to work tirelessly to keep the country moving.
In addition to the eight winning stamps, the winners will receive up to £1000 in high street vouchers and the schools will each receive up to £1000 in cash. Plus, 120 great prizes are on offer for the regional winners and runners up, across both age categories.
These are the age categories –
Age Group A : 4-11 years (Primary)
Age Group B : 12-14 years (Secondary)
If you have an older sibling who would also like to take part in this brilliant competition (they will need permission from an adult) and they are within the next age group, here is the link to print off a form – https://www.stampcompetition.ichild.co.uk/pdf/en_Official_Entry_Form.pdf
As with all the Royal Mail’s Special Stamps, before the designs are sent to print, each of them will need to be approved by Her Majesty The Queen.
