Dear Parents
As those who dropped their children off this morning will be aware, we have a magnificent new path around the fence at the back of the school connecting the small playground to the rear car park.
The path was constructed on Saturday by a small group of volunteers and was finished in the day. This was no mean feat considering we had one small mini-digger, 5 wheelbarrows and over 23 tonnes of material to remove and replace!
On behalf of Pontesbury CE Primary School, I would like to thank profusely all our volunteers on Saturday for giving up their valuable time: Matthew Crossland, for organising the working party and for making it happen so quickly; Matthew Jones, Andrew Cooper, Rob Griffiths, Catherine Jones and Helen Langford for sterling wheelbarrowing, shuttering, raking and whacking skills and finally Jodi Cooper and Elaine Cooper, who provided lifesaving bacon, sausage and egg baps in the morning.
I would also like to thank: A & M Leighton builders for supplying the whacker free of charge; Luke Buy of LDB plant services for giving us a fantastic deal on the excavator and Richard Hilditch of Border Hardcore Co. Ltd (Mrs Hilditch’s husband) for donating 15 tonnes of road planings!
Also, in recognition for her monumental efforts on Saturday, I would like to mention Catherine Jones’ business ‘GET ENGLISH’ which offers language courses to foreign students as well as tutoring services for key Stages 2-4.
There will, no doubt, be future projects around school, so please do listen out for the call for volunteers and support if you are able. It was a cracking day on Saturday and, once again, thank you to all.
Mr Langford
