I have such fond memories of kite building and then flying kites with my dad. Why don’t you give it a try over the Easter holidays. Beware Dads can be quite competitive!
There are lots of ideas online for how to make a kite from using paper to bin bags.
The kite made from drinking straws looks fun. I have quite a few straws at home (left over from before I switched to reusable straws) this would be a fun way to use some of them up. And I have tissue paper on the way to me for creating and Elmer.
The pasta kites look fun too if you have any pasta to spare.

Have fun, please be very careful about where you choose to fly your kite, check for cables overhead before you launch your creation! And don’t forget to send photographs.
Perhaps (with Mr Langford’s consent) we can have a kite flying afternoon when we are back at school to show off our creations.
