Home learning Wednesday 20th January

Hi everyone. Here are our activities for Wednesday.

Wake Up, Shake UpDig It

Maths

Start by recapping the names of the shapes you looked at yesterday. Have a look at the faces on each one. What shape are the faces? How many are there?

Colour in the shapes carefully and write the names in for each shape. There are five pages on this file so only print what you need: colour in 3D shapes

If printing is tricky, watch this online lesson about 3D shapes:

Phonics

Today we will recap ‘oe’. How many words can you find in the postcard that have ‘oe’ in them? oe phoneme spotter

For those who find phonics tricky, can you find things around your house that start with the letter ‘y’? Practise writing ‘y’ in different ways to build up your confidence with this letter.

English

Have a chat about the main characters in different Julia Donaldson books, paying particular attention to any that are fantastical (beasts, giants, dragons etc.). Today you are going to create your own beast!

Ask an adult to fold a piece of paper so that it has 3 or 4 sections. Keep the paper folded whilst you draw a head in one section. Remember to use your imagination!

Next, draw a body in the second section and then the legs in the third. When you open up your piece of paper, you should have a very strange creature!

Describe your beast using some really good describing words. Please aim for full sentences. For example, ‘My beast has a big head and pointy ears’. Try really hard to use the right sounds in your words and to keep it neat. If you are in green or blue group for English, challenge yourself to use ‘and’, ‘because’, ‘but’ or ‘so’ in your sentences.

PE

In the afternoon, the children at school have PE. Take part in the next installment of the dance session based on ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. Volcanoes and Storms

You may also like to take part in this Cosmic Kids yoga session: Wizard of Oz yoga

Have an excellent day, everyone.
