Home learning for 7.12.20

Here are details of the activities we did on Friday for anyone self-isolating.

Spelling test

On Fridays we start with a spelling test. Can you write down each of your spelling words without looking?

Music

We started to learn some traditional Christmas carols, including:

Away in a Manger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnwO_0DrpCk&vl=en

Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI7_TGZaOIE

In the Bleak Midwinter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZYrg8468XY

Click on the links and have a go at singing along. What is happening in each of these songs? What part of the Christmas story are they describing?

DT

We have started to talk about making puppets, which is our project for the last two weeks of term. Do you know any famous puppets? How about the ones on the sheet? puppets throughout time

What are the different puppets made from? How do they move? Do you know any of these old shows? How have puppets changed over time?

We will be making hand puppets, starting next week. Have a think about what you would like your puppet to look like. It will be made out of felt and needs to be a hand puppet. Other than that, the choice is completely yours as to what you make!

Phonics

We practised the grapheme ‘ou’ by watching Geraldine the Giraffe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qtCB7CYH3I

We then practised writing words on our whiteboards containing this grapheme, including:

out, shout, proud, loud, found, cloud.

If you are feeling confident, try putting each of these words into a sentence and write it down.

Have a lovely day. x
