Friday 20th March afternoon

Afternoon all,

Hope you’ve all had a good morning. My internet connection has been down for 30 minutes but now back on! Hopefully there’ll be no more issues today but if I fail to respond to any emails, that may be why and I apologise in advance.

The timetable for this afternoon looks like this:

1.30 – 1.50: reading skills

Find a set of instructions in a book or online, and see if you can find/highlight any examples of plurals. What is the plural ending? Is it ‘s’ or ‘es’? Why? Maybe the plural fits a different rule entirely; adults: don’t worry if children do not understand rules like replacing ‘y’ for ‘i’ and adding ‘es’ etc. Some children may get this but the majority will not. Just look for ‘s’ and ‘es’ endings! You may need more than one set of instructions.

1.50 – 2.30: Geography

Can you do some research to find out more about landmarks in Africa? Below is a template for a book which you can print off and complete, telling someone all about the landmark you have researched. Alternatively, you can make a PowerPoint about it (adults will need to help with this as we haven’t learnt how to do this in class!) or make an information poster all about it. This project will take you longer than 40 minutes, but you may wish to continue over the weekend, and can keep working on it if you run out of other activities next week! Maybe you could find out more about the Egyptian pyramids or Victoria Falls, for example. Where are they? What are/were they for? Are they natural (physical feature) or man-made (human feature)? The following website may help: https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/?s=Africa

On a Friday afternoon, we have some choosing time. It is entirely up to you, grown-ups, as to whether you want to continue with the Africa booklet or enjoy some free time. In choosing time, the children enjoy activities such as using the construction equipment, playing with the train set, drawing or crafts. Hopefully it is still sunny in Pontesbury, so I would suggest getting outside in the garden or going for a walk.

Have a super and safe weekend, everyone. Thanks for being brilliant this week,

Mrs Garcia x
