The start of the new school year brought a change in government guidance to schools about Coronavirus, these are the key points you should know:
- If your child shows any symptoms, please keep them off school and get a PCR test.
- If someone in your household tests positive (or displays symptoms prior to a test) your child should still attend school.
- Should you decide to test your child because they are a close contact of a confirmed case they can return to school whilst waiting for the results (while they remain symptom free)
- If your child tests positive they need to remain at home (in isolation) for ten days. Day 0 is the day they were tested or displayed symptoms.
In school we are following government guidance and liaising with Public Health England as and when positive cases are confirmed.
Public Health England will advise us when thresholds have been met and we will then communicate this with you.
In the event of a positive case in your child’s class you could ask for a PCR test as your child would be a contact of a confirmed case, this is not however mandatory.
In the event of a positive case we will send this text message.
Confirmed positive COVID case in Room X. No further action required in line with government guidance. You can request a PCR test for your child if you wish.
In the event of multiple cases there will be further advice issued to you.
