We are hoping to run the Top Hat Performing Arts club for years 4-6 next half term (Spring 2) but it can only run if we have a minimum of 8 pupils attending.
Shrewsbury Youth Theatre Production

Academy Photography in school for sports groups and music service pupils (Monday 23rd Jan)
Academy Photography will be in school on the morning of Monday 23rd January to take photos of our sports groups (e.g. football/cricket teams) and all pupils who currently have music lessons lessons in school with the Shropshire Music Service.
Please could children who may be in one of those groups bring in their relevant PE kit, outfit or musical instrument (including drumsticks) and music book when they come into school that morning.
No other photos (individual or class photos) will be taken on this occasion.
Percussion Club Update – 2 sessions cancelled (13th & 20th January)
Unfortunately, Peta has double-booked on Friday 20th January so has also cancelled Percussion club that day as well at this Friday 13th January.
Percussion club will resume on Friday 27th January and should run weekly until Friday 17th February as originally planned.
Please arrange to collect your child at 3.15pm on those dates (or make alternate childcare arrangements). We do apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Year 2 SATS and Colomendy information meeting
Dear Year 2 Parents,
I will be holding a short meeting straight afterschool on Tuesday 31st January 2023, to give information regarding the Year 2 SATS assessments and the imminent residential trip to Colomendy (16th-17th February). It will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the SATS or the trip.
The meeting will be held in Room 3, children won’t be able to attend the meeting but they will be looked after by another member of staff in a different classroom.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Potential new KS2 dance club for Spring 2 – request for feedback from Mr Rogers
Hi everyone,
Firstly, I hope you all had a nice Christmas and I wish you a healthy and safe 2023.
I’m aiming to continue offering as much of a range of sports as possible for clubs, some of the children have come up with some rather optimistic ideas – skydiving is one that springs to mind!
As part of our PE for this half term, one of the units we are looking at is dance. So, I thought I would raise the idea about running a KS2 Dance Club during Spring 2. Mrs Hilditch is currently running her ‘Born to Move’ club on Mondays, which is a brilliant workout involving elements of dance and fitness (boxing training, martial arts, dance, yoga). However, I wondered whether there would be interest in a solely dance club amongst those in KS2. The club would be aimed at both girls and boys as well as mixed ability/experience.
If there is enough interest, I will organise a club for Spring 2. So, if your child would be interested or you’d like to find out a bit more, then please get in touch via the email address below.
Thanks!
Mr Rogers
Changing from School Money to the Weduc app (getting renamed/updated as ‘Reach More Parents’ during Easter holiday)
We are in the process of changing systems and by the end of this week we will be using Weduc rather than School Money, Weduc offers much more and it is all in one place so your one login will allow you to buy uniform, pay for visits, clubs and dinner money, as well as book Parents’ Evening appointments (to name a few) and in addition you will be able to order your child’s dinner through the app and notify us of your child’s absence or appointment (which should save you phone calls and/or leaving answerphone messages).
We ask that you download the Weduc app and I highly recommend having it on your homepage so you can see when you receive messages from us. All parents/carers can have the app which should hopefully save some confusion for example at the moment Parent 1 may get the message but Parent 2 doesn’t know what is going on and our current system limits us to whom we can send messages.
There will be a few other changes that we are having to implement at the same time.
Wraparound Club bookings must be made one week in advance, this is to ensure we have the correct staffing, in exceptional circumstances and subject to availability, office staff will be able to make late bookings, these will be considered on a case by case basis.
It will come as no surprise to any of you that our costs have increased across the board for food and fuel (as well as staffing) we have made the decision not to increase Wraparound Club charges and are keeping them at £5 for a morning session and £10 for an afternoon session however we have had to remove the discounted rate of £12.50 for both sessions. We still feel this is excellent value for money.
The App features a News Feed and Notices page so we can keep you informed of what is going on in school with key information relating to your child(ren) these notices will be personalised to you so we will only inform the Year 2 class about Colomendy information, so this should mean you won’t have to scroll through information that isn’t relevant to you or your child.
We are confident that the new system will work really well and is an improvement on what we currently offer through School Money.
We will send you your login details as soon as we go live however feel free to download the app now so you are ready to go – thanks for your continued support.

‘Born to Move’ after-school club now open to all pupils in years 3-6
Mrs Hilditch has now opened her ‘Born to Move’ to all pupils in years 3-6.
Born To Move is a really exciting after-school club specifically designed for school aged children to help inspire a love of physical activity. It combines: boxing training, martial arts, dance, yoga and games and is aimed at both boys and girls.
Mrs Hilditch has completed her official training and in order to use the official Born to Move music and materials.
The club will start on Monday 9th January from 3:15pm-4:00pm (please note slightly earlier finishing time of 4pm). It will be £18 for this half term.
Parking outside school
Just a friendly reminder to parents who transport their child/ren to and from school by car to please:
- only park in official parking areas along the roads,
- be considerate to other parked cars (always ensuring you don’t block in anyone else’s parked car); and
- please don’t obstruct access to driveways.
Thank you!
