On Tuesday 15th November, FOPPS are holding a ‘Christmas items & Cake Sale’ in Room 1 from 3.15pm-3.45pm.
If your child would like to bring in cakes to sell at this fundraising event that would be really appreciated. Please could you bring cake donations in on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th November.
Do you have any Christmas jumpers, Christmas pyjamas, Christmas hats etc that your children have grown out of that are clean and in good condition? Would you consider donating them for this fundraising sale? Christmas novelty clothing is worn for such a short period of time, it would be great to have a second-hand stall of them so other children can benefit from them! Please bring them into school by Tuesday 15th November.
There will also be a second-hand uniform stall available if you’d like to have a browse.
ADVANCE NOTICE: FOPPS are also hosting a ‘Christmas Movie Night’ for the children here at school on Friday 2nd December (4.30pm-6.30pm) – details and price to follow.
CASH ONLY – NO CHANGE GIVEN
Recommended minimum donation amounts:
Children can purchase items from the school office at break and lunch times.
We can’t reserve any of the poppy merchandise as we only have limited stock.
I am delighted to announce that following the parent governor election you have elected Mrs Anne-Marie Fleming as our next Parent Governor.
A big thank also to Mrs Emma Ryley Bowcott for putting herself forward.
We look forward to welcoming Mrs Fleming onto our governing board later next month.
Due to low numbers attending Tag Rugby after-school club, Mr Rogers has decided to change it to a Hockey club instead. It runs on Thursday afternoons from 3.15-4.15pm and is open to all pupils in years 4-6. The cost is £18 for the remaining 6 sessions available this half term (up to the Christmas holidays).
Further to Mr Langford’s previous post regarding children arriving at school unsupervised, we must again bring this to your attention. There have been several incidents reported, such as unsupervised children playing in the road in between our school and Mary Webb near where the buses park; and even younger children being left at the school entrance to wait unaccompanied until school opening time.
It is the responsibility of parents to manage and safeguard their children before the school opens at 8.45am. We are also reinforcing the message that all our pupils need to behave courteously, sensibly and safely as they wait for school to open in the morning. We are deeply concerned about this and would appreciate being notified of any incidents observed before school via the office staff.
If children are repeatedly at risk because of their own behaviour or lack of adequate supervision, this may become a safeguarding issue that requires us to take further action.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
At some point soon there will probably be a local fundraising event (hampers for local elderly people or families in need in the Pontesbury area) – so please do bear that in mind.
However, Shrewsbury Food Bank also have a Christmas Appeal as they are hoping to provide food hampers and gifts for 550 households this December. If you are able, please consider donating items as per their posters below.

Yes, it is that time of the year again when we start to think about the Nativity.
Children in Year 1 and 2 will be coming home with their parts and lines to learn sometime over the next week or so. Please don’t rush out to buy/make costumes just yet… we have lots of costumes in school but need to have a sort through what we have. Please send a named plastic bag into school for us to put your child’s costume in. If we don’t have a suitable costume for your child here, we will let you know as soon as possible so you will have chance to find something.
Please help your children learn their lines. It is helpful for them to know which lines come before theirs too.
Manys thanks,
KS1 and EYFS Staff
A huge thank you to Hugo and his dad (Mr Ross Edwards) who kindly came forward in response to our plea for a new planter. They made it together over the half term holiday and we are absolutely delighted with it as I know Mrs Manna will be when she sees it. Thank you also to Mrs Edwards who delivered it to us today.
If anyone else has made us one we would happily give it (them) a home!
A few staff have their eyes on it for planting up!
Reminder, we need all Flu Immunisation consent forms back to school whether your child/children will be having the flu spray or not.
Thank you to everyone that has already brought their consent forms back to school.
Thank you!
