Next Week

Hi all,

Here are a few changes to our timetable next week…

Monday – PE day. Please come to school in your PE kits.

Tuesday – normal school uniform.

Wednesday – Forest School as usual.

Thursday – Pontesford Hill trip. As per the letter, come in wearing Forest School clothes, sensible shoes for walking, with a sensible rucksack to carry packed lunch and water. Please check the weather in the morning to see if you will need suncream / hat / coat etc.

Friday – normal school uniform.

On the last week of term there will be no Forest School, so please send the children in wearing their uniform every day.

Many thanks,

Miss Roberts

Room 4 Pontesford Hill Walk

Dear Parents of Room 4,

I am very excited to let you know that we have planned a walk up Pontesford Hill for Thursday 15th July. We do this trip every year and it’s always such a positive way to end the year, spending the day chatting to and being with the children.

On this day, please send children into school wearing their usual, sensible, Forest School clothes and shoes that are suitable for walking in, no wellies please. As we will be spending the whole day up the hill, we will be taking a packed lunch with us. Please could every Reception pupil order their picnic lunch order using the form below (whether they are ordering a paid school dinner OR indicating on the form that your child will be bringing a home packed lunch with them that day instead).

Packed Lunch Order Form

It is important to make sure that all children have plenty of water to drink throughout the day too.

Children will need to wear suncream and a sunhat, or a waterproof coat, depending on the weather. Please check the weather before getting your child dressed and packing their bag in the morning.

Children will need to carry their own belongings with them, so please put their lunch, water bottle, sunhat and / or coat in a rucksack for the day. A rucksack with thick straps is easier and much more comfortable for children to carry for the day than one with a drawstring.

This is always our favourite day of the year and we are really looking forward to it!

Kind regards,

Miss Roberts

We need everyone’s information to be submitted by Friday 2nd July at the latest please so our lovely kitchen staff can order in the correct amount of food.  Thank you!

Wet socks!

Apologies for all the wet socks and tights coming home with the children today. Once the (very heavy!) rain had eased a little bit after lunchtime, we took the opportunity to do some puddle jumping. We did put on wellies and waterproofs, but even so – every single child managed to get their socks or tights completely sodden!

On the plus side – the children were very happy splashing through the deep puddles that had formed throughout lunchtime!

Help please!

Hello,

The week after next we will be doing a craft activity which involves empty yogurt pots. If you eat yogurts at home, please would you send your empty (and clean!) yogurt pots our way? We will need 1-2 pots per child. Just the little snap pots or something similar will be perfect for our activity.

Thank you in advance!

Parent WhatsApp Group

Some of the parents from Room 4 have recently set up a WhatsApp group for all the parents. Parents have had these groups before and they are a really handy way to keep up to date with what’s happening in school – especially when there’s a change of PE day or a special dress up day etc. I know parents in the past have found these really useful – and a bit of a life saver! Unfortunately at the moment it’s impossible to chat to other parents properly after school so it’s really tricky to get contact details for everyone.

If you would like to be part of the WhatsApp group, then please email me or let me know at the door, and I can pass your details on to Diane Jones who will add you to the group. There is no school involvement in this group at all, it’s just the easiest way to pass contact details on in these COVID times!

Return to School 8th March

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all feeling excited and ready to go for our first day back to school on Monday. I am really excited to see you all and hear about all of the lovely things you have been up to!

Coming into school

Hopefully you have seen the post about the new way of coming into school. I know on the post it says about dropping children at the gate and encouraging the children to come to the classroom door independently, I just wanted to set your minds at ease about this. We will have several members of staff waiting on the playground to watch the children and help them into their classrooms so the children will not be walking across the playground by themselves. If you feel really unhappy about letting your children walk into school by themselves then that is fine! You are still very welcome to drop your children off at the classroom door by following the one way system.

If you do this a few times and feel that your child is feeling more confident about coming into school, then we would encourage you to drop them off at the playground and let the staff on the playground help them into their classroom.

Do whatever is right for your child, we are just working hard on trying to reduce the number of parents on site at the start of the school day.

Timetable

Room 4 will now have PE on a Monday and Forest School on a Thursday. The rest of the week they are to wear their school uniform.

If there are any queries about anything, then please feel free to send me an email –  roberts.b@pontesbury.shropshire.sch.uk
