Dear parents and guardians
We are currently experiencing significantly high incidences of COVID-19 within both the pupil population and staff. As a result, we are now designated as a COVID ‘break-out’ school.
This means that, within school, we will be reinstating certain protection procedures to keep staff and our community as safe as possible as we approach Christmas. These include:
- The use of Face masks by staff
- Assemblies to return to being remote assemblies
- Reception, Year 1 and 2 to becoming ‘bubble’.
- All KS2 classes becoming their own ‘class bubbles’.
- Lunchtimes returning to ‘bubble’ sittings.
- Increasing classroom ventilation as much as possible.
Morning drop-off and evening collection procedures will remain the same with the gate opening at 8.45am – with the side gate shutting at 8.55am – and children being collected at 3.15pm from the main playground. When on school site, please once again follow social distancing guidelines.
Unless you wish to, we are not asking parents to wear masks or face coverings whilst on the school site when collecting children but we do ask that you:
- wear a mask if you are standing by a classroom door.
- wear a mask if speaking to a member staff.
- wear a mask if you enter the school building.
After school clubs will still continue as will our wraparound care provision.
As we approach the end of term, I ask all parents to continue your valued support in keeping our community as safe as possible from this terrible disease and please keep following the Government guidelines below:
PCR testing
All household contacts of a confirmed case (PCR positive) should undertake a PCR test, with or without symptoms, and remain home until a negative PCR is returned. This means that pupils who have a household contact who is a confirmed case (PCR positive) should be recommended to take a PCR test and not attend school while awaiting the result. If the PCR result is negative, then pupils should be recommended to have a further PCR test after 4 or 5 days as a precaution. They can continue to attend the setting when waiting on the second PCR result.
All close contacts of confirmed cases (PCR positive) are also recommended to take a PCR test but unless they have any of the 3 main symptoms of COVID-19 or any of the precautionary symptoms, they can continue to attend the setting when waiting on results of the PCR.
Anyone with the 3 main symptoms or the precautionary symptoms (even if they are not a close contact of a confirmed case) are recommended to get a PCR test and only return to school after a negative result. They should also consider contacting 111 for medical advice if required because these symptoms are not unique to COVID-19.
If there are any questions, queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Mr Lowrie-Herz.
Mr Langford
