Unfortunately during the school holidays we have had some unwanted visitors. It really saddens me to say most of whom were ex-pupils/siblings of current pupils. They caused damage to the property including starting fires in the gazebo, rode motorbikes on the field, broke into sheds and ‘played’ with Reception toys and smashed their empty alcohol bottles on the playground. As if on its own this was not bad enough they were also abusive to our school neighbours when asked to leave. This resulted in the police being called who had to send a riot van to deal with their disgraceful behaviour.
We are most grateful to the neighbours who alerted the police to the events and also for clearing up the broken glass prior to the arrival of the holiday club the following day.
As a school we have always been very tolerant of out of hours visitors however due to the behaviour of the minority we are left with no choice but to ensure all gates are locked which sadly will impact on the communities ability to use our field. We are also now looking to install CCTV. Both of these measures will impact on our school budget however the safety of our children and protecting school property has to be our priority.
Any future trespassers causing malicious damage to the school will be prosecuted.
