Wednesday’s science

This half term we are going to look at some famous scientists. Every week we will study a different one.

We start with Stephen Hawking. You will need some resources for this if you want to do the investigation. These are listed on the lesson plan below.

To have a bit of background information on him have a look at his biography. Stephen Hawkin’s biography.

You then have options. You can either look at the Lesson Plan Stephen Hawking and work on your own or join me on teams as I go through it.

Start off by looking at the Lesson Presentation Stephen Hawking  and then write down all you know about Stephen Hawking’s life. The biography will also help you with this.

Use the Black Holes Activity Sheet to draw and label a diagram showing their understanding of black holes. What Are Black Holes Activity Sheet

Use the Lesson Presentation to explain Hawking’s theories about black holes, including how they behave and how they are formed.

Black Hole Inquiries: Carry out two inquiries to demonstrate how black holes are formed and how they behave. The inquiries are described on the Lesson Presentation. Follow the instructions to carry out the inquiries. Black Hole Inquiries Instructions.

Report on Your Findings: Use the differentiated Black Hole Report Activity Sheets

I fully understand that some of you might not be able to complete the investigation part of this because you dont have the resources you need (that is ok – don’t worry about doing it).
