English tasks for Thursday
SPAG – today I would like you revise words that can be nouns and verbs, depending on the sentence they are in.
I had a cry when I heard about school closing. (the word cry is a noun)
He thought is was embarassing to cry. (the word cry is a verb)
Remember – if the word is a verb it is likely to have a pronoun or the word ‘to’ in front of it. If the word is a noun it is likely to have a determiner in front of it (or before any adjectives describing it). Click on the sheets below – you can either print them or copy them into your home work book. They are also on Google Classroom.
Circle all the nouns in these sentences
As a final challenge, try and write sentences using the following words. Write one sentence using the words as a noun and one sentence using the word as a verb:
yell, shower, fly, crown, phone, coat, land, flap, pound, glitter
