GREEN CLEAN – REA VALLEY – SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER 2019

GREEN CLEAN – REA VALLEY – SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER 2019

We’re looking forward to you joining us to help clean up this area which will include the beautiful villages of Minsterley and Pontesbury. Here are a few details to make sure everyone has an enjoyable and safe day out.

Meeting time and place – Please join us at 10am for a 10:30am start at the Malehurst Bank, on the A488 (postcode: SY5 0BT / OS map co-ordinates 38-39/06). We are using the farm land opposite a white cottage you will see on the Bank. Signage will be put up to help you.

What to bring and wear – Please dress for the occasion as per a usual litter pick, as we’re walking quite a bit I would advise comfortable footwear. It looks as though there’s going to be a little rain but that may change so I advise keeping an eye on the Met Office prior to the day.

If you’re bringing or plan to eat any food during the event you’re welcome to, but try to prepare food in advance and bring it in reusable containers to keep the litter pick as waste free as possible! Same goes for drinks – please bring them in reusable containers.

We’ll be providing all the equipment you need but if you have your own litter picker, gloves and hi-vis jacket feel free to bring it along!

And the most important thing, bring a smile! It’s a key ingredient for any fun community led day of action.

Your health and your safety – If you have any medical conditions we should be aware of, please let me know before by email or on the day.

All reasonable steps will be taken to ensure safety during the litter pick. Individuals participate at their own risk and the litter pick leaders have discretion not to accept participants who are not suitably equipped or who they consider unable to participate safely.

Gloves must be worn at all times and you should always pick things up with a litter picker, never with your hands. CPRE national and your local branch hold no responsibility for anyone who does not follow these rules.

Scavenger Hunt for families and children – As part of this event we will be trialling a new fundraising activity for families and children. We will have a scavenger hunt where you will collect a card from us with a list of items that you may see on your walk. For every item noticed and marked down on your card you will collect points and, at the end of the event, the person with the highest numbers will win their very own “litter tackling” prize of a litter picker and, for those runners up, you will receive a pack of lovely wildflowers. Cards are £3 each and we would really like to see as many families take part as possible. Please hand them in at the collection points. Prizes will be posted to you so make sure you have put your name and address on the card.

Photography – Please feel free to bring along your own camera or take pictures on your phone on the day. If you share any on the day be sure to tag your local CPRE and national CPRE (ask us for the details on the day).

Photographs will be taken during the day which may be used in future publicity, publications or on websites. If you’d prefer for your photo not to be used please let your litter pick leader know on the day and try and make sure you are not included in photos being taken.

Other than that if there is anything else please do not hesitate to contact me.
