On Wednesday 23rd January 2017 we are hoping to be able to take all of the children in Key Stage 2 to the Genting Arena, at the NEC in Birmingham. We shall be teaching the songs to all of the children in Key Stage 2 for the Young Voices event whether they are going or not. There are lots of songs to learn, some of which are quite challenging so, as well as these being taught during curriculum time, we hope that you will encourage your children to learn them at home.
Please note, we alternate between taking just the school choir and the whole of Key Stage 2 to Young Voices, and this year it is the turn of the whole Key Stage (years 3-6 inclusive) which we are all very excited about. As you will see it is a late night but such an incredible experience we feel it is worth it. We do ask that all children are in school by 1pm on the following day (so if they do need to sleep in this may be an option for you) and this does not adversely affect their attendance.
Tickets for the children will be paid for by the school. School is subsidising this visit, however we do need to ask for £6.00 per child towards the cost of transport. Children will need a packed lunch and a packed tea for the event, as well as plenty of drinks (plastic bottles, no fizzy drinks please).
Provisional arrangements regarding departure times etc are as follows:
Depart from school 11.30am; children will eat their packed lunches on arrival in Birmingham; there will be a full rehearsal at the NEC; the children will eat their packed tea before the evening concert; at approximately 9.30pm we shall leave the NEC; at approximately 11.00pm we will arrive back at Pontesbury CE Primary School. (We will keep parents informed via text message with a more accurate arrival time on the night).
Family and friends are able to come and enjoy the concert too. Tickets are £20.00 per person – please see the attached order form. It would be lovely to see many of you there, however, your child will be able to take part even if you are not able to go, and the school will take responsibility for him/her.
You will see from one of the order forms that you are also able to purchase ‘Young Voices’ t-shirts for the children. Whilst it is effective to see a whole choir dressed alike, we recognise that this is an additional cost. Therefore, it is always an option for children to wear a plain white t-shirt instead.
Please can you return the permission slip for your child to take part in the event by Thursday 27th September at the latest (as we have to submit final numbers to Young Voices by then).
Please can you return your completed ticket and t-shirt forms and monies (including the £6 coach payment) to school by Friday 12th October at the latest (again so we meet their deadline).
This will be an event your child/ren will remember for many years so we hope that you will be happy for him/her to go. I feel sure that anyone who has been to Young Voices in previous years will be able to tell you how much they enjoyed the concert.
