Throughout the school homework is handed out on a Friday and is expected to be handed in the following Thursday. If your child is having any difficult with their homework why not send them to homework club on a Tuesday and Wednesday lunch time in room 7.
Relationship & Sex Education
This forms part of the whole school personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum. In Years R – 5 pupils will look at relationships. In Year 5 the girls will have a growing up and changes talk with a female member of staff and in Year 6 girls and boys have separate growing up and changing talks as well as more formal sex education.
We follow the Shropshire Relationship & Sex Education programme, which continues on into Key Stage 3 at the Mary Webb School. Parents are annually invited to view the materials that will be shown and discussed in class, when their child is at the relevant age.
During Year 6 (autumn term) all children will have the opportunity to go on a five day residential visit*. We currently use Arthog (Mid Wales).
All children in Year 6 (who meet the criteria) will be assessed using SATs tests on Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar, Reading, Writing and Maths in May.
The above assessments are reported nationally. KS2 SATs tests are used to forecast outcomes for pupils when they reach Year 11.
In addition to this we have a ‘test week’ towards the end of each term, which helps the teacher establish the next steps for each pupil’s learning.
