Pontesbury CE Primary School is situated in a delightful village not far from the Shropshire town of Shrewsbury, UK. We are very proud or our school, it's children and staff. We pride ourselves on bringing the curriculum to life, by offering an enriched curriculum. We all have high expectations of the children and our school community and we are totally committed to improving the all round achievements of our children.
Key Stage One comprises Years 1 and 2.
Mrs Garcia is the Year 1 teacher in Room 5.
Mrs Pittaway is the Year 2 teacher in Room 3.
Throughout KS1 homework is handed out on a Friday and is expected to be handed in the following Thursday. If your child is having any difficult with their homework why not send them to homework club on a Tuesday and Wednesday lunch time in room 5.
At the end of KS1 all children will have had the opportunity to go on a two day residential visit*. We currently use Kingswood Colomendy (North Wales)
All children in Year 1 will take part in a phonics assessment in June, which will be reassessed in Year 2 if they fall below the national average.
All children in Year 2 (who meet the criteria) will be assessed using SATs tests on Reading, Writing and Maths in May.
The above assessments are reported nationally. KS1 SATs tests are used to forecast outcomes for pupils when they reach Year 6.
In addition to this we have a ‘test week’ towards the end of each term, which helps the teacher establish the next steps for each pupil’s learning.
