Welcome to our Class

Year 5 is a really special year group in school. We are proud to be in Upper Key Stage 2 and to be role-models for younger children in Pontesbury Primary.

Reading for pleasure is an important part of life in Room 8.We love to read and share books with one another. Mrs Rowe always enjoys a recommendation!

We approach all subjects with an inquisitive mind and an enthusiastic heart. Learning time is treasured and we do not expect anything or anybody to distract us from our valuable learning opportunities.

Class Rules & Expectations

How do we handle mistakes?
One of the most important things we emphasise is that mistakes are expected, inspected and respected. We know that we need to make mistakes to learn and we treat one another with respect when that happens. Nobody in our class will laugh at someone for making a mistake; our classroom is a safe and nurturing place to learn.

What are our rules?

Here are our ‘golden 9’:

  1. Speak politely and kindly to everyone.
  2. Be ready to learn (have the right equipment and the right attitude).
  3. Respect each other, our classroom and our school.
  4. Respect mistakes (never laugh at other people’s ideas or mistakes).
  5. Treat others as you want to be treated.
  6. Work as a team.
  7. Don’t talk when someone else is talking.
  8. Follow instructions quickly and sensibly.
  9. Be productive (make the most of learning time).
